EZ-MPC Check
The EZ-MPC Check is a next-generation portable MPC (Membrane Patch Colorimetry) tester designed to evaluate the varnish and sludge potential in lubricants such as turbine oil, EHC oil, and hydraulic oil. Developed in compliance with ASTM D7843, this device provides rapid and reliable analysis by quantifying color changes in membrane patches through ΔE measurement. Varnish and degradation by-products such as sludge and carbides can severely damage turbines, hydraulic systems, and high-value rotating equipment. With the EZ-MPC Check, operators can obtain accurate on-site results within seconds, eliminating the need for complex laboratory procedures and reducing downtime. This compact, handheld device is powered by a rechargeable battery, making it ideal for field engineers, power plant operators, and reliability professionals who require quick diagnostics for preventive and predictive maintenance.
Key Features
Portable handheld design with compact dimensions (210 × 100 × 52 mm) and lightweight housing for easy field use.
Measurement principle fully compliant with ASTM D7843 using 0°/45° geometry, CIE 10° observer, and D65 light source.
14-channel multi-spectral sensor ensures precision and consistency.
Output values include ΔE, ΔL, a+b, enabling differentiation between general degradation and specific carbide contamination in EHC oils.
Fast measurement capability with results available in less than 5 seconds.
Convenient sample loading system with automatic evaluation and on-screen diagnosis.
3.2” LCD color display with intuitive user interface.
Saving and exporting function for long-term data tracking and analysis.
Long battery life: 16 hours of continuous operation, 4-hour full charging via USB-C.
Efficacy & Benefits
Water, oxidation, and thermal degradation in oils often produce insoluble by-products that form varnish deposits on critical machinery surfaces. Varnish leads to sticky control valves, bearing failures, and turbine trips. The EZ-MPC Check provides:
Early detection of varnish risk, preventing catastrophic equipment failures.
Quantitative risk evaluation, enabling data-driven oil replacement or purification decisions.
Cost savings in maintenance by avoiding unnecessary oil changes and extending lubricant service life.
Compliance with industry standards such as ASTM D7843, ASTM D4378-24 (for turbine oils), and ASTM D8323-24 (for phosphate ester EHC fluids).
Improved reliability of turbines, hydraulic control systems, and rotating equipment, ensuring continuous and efficient plant operations.
How to Use (Procedure / Recipe)
1. Collect an oil sample (turbine, hydraulic, or EHC oil) using the supplied sampling accessories.
2. Prepare a membrane patch as per ASTM D7843 guidelines and load it into the tester.
3. Switch on the EZ-MPC Check and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. The device illuminates and analyzes the patch using the D65 light source and multi-spectral detector.
5. Within 5 seconds, the ΔE value and related diagnostic data are displayed on the LCD.
6. Review the varnish risk level (Normal, Attention, or Corrective Action recommended) based on ASTM evaluation scales.
7. Save the results internally or export them for long-term monitoring and reporting.
8. Recharge the battery via the USB-C port when required.
